Oscar Pistorius the blade running killer of his former girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has shot dead his Uncle’s gardener in Pretoria yesterday. Pistorius who is currently under house arrest at his uncle’s home whilst he waits for sentencing of his murder conviction of Reeva in 2013.
Oscar Pistorius told authorities that he was sunbathing in his back garden and he heard movement by one of the bushes. Assuming there was an intruder in his uncle’s garden, he picked up his shotgun that was by the side of his sun lounger and and fired two shells into the gardener’s chest.
He then emptied a further two 9mm bullets into the victims temple at close range for a confirmed kill and then went back to sunbathing.
When we asked the police spokesman “Did Pistorius issue a warning before discharging weapons?”. “No he did not” the spokesman replied.
According to South African law even a person awaiting a murder conviction sentence is allowed to defend himself from possible intruders and threat to life. However due to his outstanding murder conviction, Oscar Pistorius was only permitted a low calibre weapon such as a combat 12 gauge shotgun and a 9mm side-arm.
